Mixedwater and masking agent, ammonia nitrogen with free ammonia or ammonium ionform, reaction with Nessler's reagent to form a colored complex, change thecolor of the analyzer, and the change of output value is converted to ammonianitrogen. The amount of color complex is equivalent to the amount of ammonianitrogen.
